Tybalt Marr

Tybalt Marr, known as the Either, was a Sons of Horus captain of the Eighteenth who hunted the Shattered Legions’ warleader, Shadrak Meduson. The Shattered Legions were the surviving Iron Hands, the sons of the primarch Ferrus Manus, who continued to fight as a fleet after the Isstvan massacre. Marr treated the pursuit of Meduson as a personal undertaking.

The epithet began as a joke that persisted. It described Marr as a man who might prove useful or might prove a problem, depending on which Cthonian was asked. After Isstvan he became a problem Meduson could not disregard. Marr treated the Iron Hands’ guerrilla warfare as a siege that moved from place to place. He lost ships and suffered a blow to his pride in the course of the pursuit, and he eventually caught Meduson in the Aragna Chain.

The capture ended the belief that the Iron Hands survivors could sustain a fleet indefinitely out of spite. The Shattered Legions produced no second leader of Meduson’s scale. Accounts of Marr’s later career are unclear, as is common for Sons of Horus officers. He either died in the Eye of Terror or continues to serve under another’s colours, and the epithet has remained apt.
