Maloghurst

Maloghurst the Twisted was Horus's equerry, a Luna Wolf broken in body on Sixty-Three Nineteen who stayed useful when prettier captains would not. The Legion called him Twisted and meant the spine. He kept the title like a tool. Someone had to carry messages the Mournival was too proud to run.

When Russ's spear put the Warmaster down, Maloghurst sold himself in the Warp to drag Horus back from the edge before Terra. Davinite priests, daemonic bargains, a body that was already a ruin: he spent all of it. The Warmaster woke. The equerry did not get to enjoy the result.

He died so Horus could walk onto the Vengeful Spirit's last act as a god-shaped wound. Cthonia raises gang-sons who think loyalty is a knife. Maloghurst's knife was pointed inward. The Warmaster got up. That was the whole job.
