Idriss Krendl was Warsmith of the Iron Warriors 14th, the Olympian Perturabo sent against Barabas Dantioch's Schadenhold rather than against some easier desert. Lesser Damantyne was supposed to be a demonstration. Dantioch made it a humiliation with a mountain in the way.
The fortress did not kneel. Krendl spent a grand battalion learning that a loyal Warsmith with a hole in a rock is still a Warsmith. He left that war alive, which was more than his reputation did, and later resurfaced around Euphorus with Ordinatus-grade spite to spend.
He was not the architect of Tallarn, whatever later briefings implied. Schadenhold was his scar. The IV Legion kept him in the order of battle because Perturabo wastes ammunition, not grudges, and Krendl still had both.
