Sor Talgron

Captain, Dark Apostle, The Warmonger

Also known as Warmonger

Homeworld: Colchis

Sor Talgron was a Word Bearers captain who assumed the Dark Apostle’s role during the Horus Heresy and was later interred in the Dreadnought Warmonger. A Dark Apostle is the senior religious authority of a Word Bearers warband, and the crozius is the ceremonial mace of that office. Talgron’s devotion originated on Colchis, the Word Bearers’ homeworld.

Before the Siege of Terra, Talgron sabotaged the Imperial capital. He also burned the world of Percepton with phosphex, an incendiary compound. He took up the Dark Apostle’s crozius when the Legion’s preaching required a more forceful instrument. Fafnir Rann of the Imperial Fists killed him. The Word Bearers placed his remains in the Warmonger, a Dreadnought armed with a siege gun, which continued to preach in his name. Talgron died a second time on Boros Prime, where the Dreadnought and the Dark Apostle within it were destroyed together.

The name Warmonger survived Talgron’s bodily death by some centuries but did not survive Boros Prime. The Word Bearers recount his end as martyrdom. The Imperial Fists remember Rann’s killing of Talgron rather than the later destruction of the Dreadnought.
