Shiban Khan
Khan of the Brotherhood of the Storm
Also known as Khan of the Brotherhood of the Storm
Homeworld: Chogoris
Shiban Khan was a khan of the White Scars Legion who served through the Horus Heresy and fought in the Siege of the Imperial Palace on Terra. Born of Chogoris and holding the style Khan of the Brotherhood of the Storm, he is recorded as a commander whom the Legion regarded as a model son of its adopted world, a standing that the war later altered. His allegiance was to the Legion and to its primarch, Jaghatai Khan, and his career is bound to the period in which the White Scars were divided over the place of the Stormseers and the authority of the lodges.
The central episode attached to him is a confrontation within the Legion’s own fleet. When lodge factions moved to seize control of a vessel, Shiban is recorded as having boarded his own flagship to halt the attempted coup. The lodges had promised brotherhood, and he answered with force. The episode left a lasting mark on him, both as a wound to his face and in his manner towards Torghun, Yesugei and others who still believed that the Stormseers could restore the Legion to unity. The events belong to the White Scars’ Heresy-era campaigning in the Chondax region, where the Legion’s internal tensions are placed; accounts differ on how far the dispute had spread beyond the ships involved.
His principal relationships are therefore with fellow khans rather than with the primarch alone. Torghun and Yesugei stand as contemporaries who read the crisis differently, and the disagreement between them and Shiban is one of the clearest records of how the Legion’s officers divided over trust in its psykers. The war changed him from the figure the Legion had expected into a different man, one who had abandoned many of his earlier assumptions by the time the Legion turned towards the Throneworld.
Shiban fought in the Siege of the Imperial Palace on Terra, where the White Scars arrived late in the siege and in part because warriors of his kind continued to ride after the original reasons for their campaign had ceased to apply. On the Orrery map his history runs from Chogoris, through the Chondax theatre, to the walls of Terra, and on the timeline from the fractured Legion of the Heresy’s middle years to the siege itself. His status is recorded as missing, and no later account of his career or fate is established; the record of him is otherwise sparse, and this dossier does not extend it beyond what is attested.
