Targutai Yesugei

Targutai Yesugei was the chief Stormseer of the White Scars Legion and the oldest counsellor of its Khagan, Jaghatai. A Chogorian by birth, he held the Legion’s highest rank among its Stormseers, the psykers who work in the Warp. He had seen both the Emperor and the Four in a single vision and nevertheless chose the ordu.

Throughout the Horus Heresy, Yesugei sought to prevent the Legion from dividing into lodge and sky, and to prevent the Khagan from becoming a weapon without a rider. When the route to Terra closed, he opened another. At Catallus he performed a single working that cost him his life and made a breach in the Warp wide enough for White Scars to pass through toward the Imperial Palace. Qin Xa had already died preserving the Khagan’s body; Yesugei’s death preserved the Khagan’s campaign.

The White Scars still cite his counsel when they require a justification other than force. Chogoris lost the companion who remembered why its people rode to war. The Siege of Terra received a Legion that arrived in time to take part.
