Goge Vandire

Goge Vandire was Master of the Administratum and High Lord of Terra whose despotic reign as the Imperium’s de facto ruler became known as the Reign of Blood.

Rising through the Administratum’s byzantine hierarchy, Vandire secured election as High Lord of Terra and, through intimidation and the destruction of rival factions, accumulated authority no single adept had held in millennia, eventually styling himself Master of Mankind. His decrees during the Age of Apostasy, a period of Imperial weakness and religious upheaval in the thirty-sixth millennium, licensed his Black Ships and Frateris Militia to conduct purges across the Imperium under the pretext of rooting out heresy, while the Ecclesiarchy’s own orders militant, forerunners of the Adepta Sororitas, were pressed into his service. Opposition coalesced around the Confessor Sebastian Thor, whose preaching against Vandire’s excesses drew followers even as Vandire’s agents hunted him; within Vandire’s own household, his bodyguard Alicia Dominica turned against her master, killing him in the halls of the Administratum and ending the Reign of Blood.

Vandire’s fall closed the Age of Apostasy and opened the Age of Reformation under Thor, whose reforms curbed the Ecclesiarchy’s power and led to the formal establishment of the Adepta Sororitas as the Orders Militant, drawn in part from Dominica’s own household guard. His reign is recorded as a cautionary extreme of concentrated Terran authority, invoked whenever the High Lords or the Ecclesiarchy are judged to have overreached, and his death at the hands of Alicia Dominica within the Administratum’s halls is fixed as the close of the Reign of Blood in the Imperium’s chronology of the thirty-sixth millennium.
