Mahavastu Kallimakus

Mahavastu Kallimakus was a Terran scribe and the remembrancer of Magnus the Red, and the author of the Book of Magnus. A remembrancer is a scribe attached to a commander to keep a written record of events. Kallimakus wrote the Book of Magnus in that capacity, though the work was not necessarily of his own choosing.

Kallimakus served as a witness at Prospero and is also associated with the events at Nikaea. He fled the burning of Tizca and later hid the Athenaeum, a library, on Apollonia. In the centuries that followed, Ahriman found this cache and burned it.

Kallimakus did not survive the long war as a published author. His standing rests instead on his handwriting, which the Thousand Sons did not entirely set aside. Sent from Terra as a remembrancer, he is recorded chiefly through the Book of Magnus and through the loss of the Athenaeum he had preserved.
