Mersadie Oliton

Mersadie Oliton was a documentarist remembrancer of the 63rd Expedition and Garviel Loken's witness, not a soldier. She got off the Vengeful Spirit with the Eisenstein, then spent the war as a prisoner of other people's plans: stasis, interrogation, a warp-eye Maloghurst left in her like a seed.

Samus wore Keeler's face in her dreams and walked her to the Phalanx so Dorn could meet a door. She understood the trick late and closed it the only way a remembrancer can close a warp-gate: she stopped being the key. The daemon vanished. So did she.

The Great Crusade hired artists to make conquest look inevitable. Oliton's footage and her death both argue otherwise. She recorded Loken while he was still a man. She died keeping a daemon from using that record as a road.
