Ra Endymion

Ra Endymion was a Tribune of the Adeptus Custodes who served the Emperor during the War in the Webway and entered the labyrinth with the daemon Drach’nyen. He held the titles of Tribune and Prefect of the Hykanatoi, and he served within the small, Terra-based order of the Ten Thousand under the Captain-General, Constantin Valdor. His place in the galactic story rests on two linked episodes: his part in the Emperor’s war beneath the Palace, and his removal of a dangerous prisoner from Terra afterwards.

Ra is recorded as one of the Custodians who accompanied the Emperor into the Webway campaign, the conflict fought in the labyrinthine dimension whose principal portal lay on Terra. He organised the defence of that portal and fought beside the Emperor in the course of the war. Because he stood so close to the Emperor, Ra learned more of the Emperor’s past than most Custodians are constituted to bear. The Emperor appears to have used him first as a witness to the war and afterwards as a repository for what the tribune had learned. The war belongs to the period before the Horus Heresy, and it is closely tied to the Emperor’s later work on the Golden Throne. Accounts of its exact chronology differ, and this page does not fix dates beyond that placement.

When the daemon Drach’nyen required a place of confinement other than Terra, Ra took it into the labyrinth. The duties of the tribune passed to Diocletian, a fellow Tribune of the Custodes and a contemporary of Ra, while Ra took on the burden of the daemon. Terra remains standing in part because Ra carried this danger away from it. The Custodes do not list him as dead, and his status is recorded as missing. The Webway offers no means of establishing his fate, so any claim about his survival, confinement or death goes beyond what is attested.
