Ollanius Pius

Ollanius Pius is a Terran-born figure venerated as a saint in Imperial tradition, associated in later accounts with the Emperor’s earliest followers. He is held to belong to the Imperium of Man, and his cult is recorded as centred on Terra, the world with which the tradition binds him. His standing rests chiefly on devotional memory rather than on a documented career, and he is best understood as a figure of the Imperial saint myth.

Later tradition places him in the period of the Emperor’s rise on Terra, before the Great Crusade carried the Imperium beyond the Solar System, and presents him as a man of faith and loyalty who served the Emperor in the years before the Horus Heresy. Accounts differ on the particulars of his life, including the offices he held, the campaigns in which he is said to have taken part, and the manner and date of his death, and this dossier does not assert details that the recorded material does not support. Where he is named, it is generally as an exemplar of steadfast service rather than as a commander of armies, and his relationships with the Emperor’s better-documented contemporaries are described in general terms only.

In the Imperium of the forty-first millennium he is remembered as a saint, and his veneration reflects the wider practice by which the Ecclesiarchy and popular belief shape earlier figures into models of devotion.
